Initial euphoria on the wane

TRS cadre being exhausted and fast-draining resources of contestants cited as reasons

The election euphoria that gripped TRS cadres who campaigned hard, seems to be on the wane, given the early announcement of candidates and a long period ahead for polling.
Rallies, processions and public meetings were held immediately after the dissolution of the Assembly, but such activities have come down now, though leaders are quietly carrying out door-to-door campaign sans any pomp and fanfare at selective places.
Cadres being exhausted by extensive work in the initial days, the fast-draining resources of the contesting candidates, and Dasara holidays are cited as reasons for slowing down of the campaign. Sources point out that other parties not declaring their candidates may be another reason for slowdown of election activities.

Early announcement

The TRS leadership announced its candidates much too early to gain strategic political mileage over its rivals. But that might prove disadvantageous now, given the progress in electioneering. After caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s massive public meeting at Government Giriraj College here on October 3, no star campaigner has taken up campaign on behalf of the party.
Contestants, on their part, have been meeting voters community-wise as well as community leaders and are hosting feasts at secret places. Given the model code of conduct in place, any extravaganza during the campaign might attract EC’s action against leaders, so the whole affair has become a simple one.
Cavalcades and blaring loudspeakers apart, even cut-outs of KCR and other leaders, that were all pervasive at public places earlier, are conspicuous by their absence. Only pamphlets are being distributed among people as of now.
